Majority of Khawmawi Church members are originally from the villages of Senvon and Lungthulien in the hills of Manipur State. They migrated to the north, closer to the city in search of employment and educational opportunities for their children. One of the first things they undertook was to build a Church at Khawmawi as they construct their houses. They used bricks for the walls. Unfortunately there were no engineers or experienced builders among them in using bricks. They laid the bricks without proper posts to hold together! The building was torn down just before it collapsed. They are able to salvage much of the bricks and roofing materials.
The members have hearts to work. With the population growth in the area, they feel they needed to enlarge the Church building.
The following is the Construction Budget:
Total Estimate Budget: $40,471
Total Receipt: $16,308
Total Balance Needed: $24,163
The current membership: 305
The Khawmawi Church members pray, give and work sacrificially, looking forward to the day when their Church building will be completed and that they will be able to sponsor more national missionaries in the unreached areas of India and Cambodia.
